Overview
Nagar ("we", "our", or "us") provides a community app for the Indian-American community in Central Texas. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
Information We Collect
When you use Nagar, we collect:
- Account information: Your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number when you create an account.
- Profile information: Your selected role (User or Business Owner).
- Content you post: Classified listings, photos, businesses, events, and feed posts that you create.
- Communications: Messages you send through our support email.
- Device information: Basic technical information needed for the app to work (iOS version, app version).
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the app's features
- To moderate content for community safety (review submissions, respond to reports)
- To respond to your support inquiries
- To send important account notifications (password resets, email verification)
Information You Share Publicly
Content you post (listings, businesses, events, feed posts) is visible to other Nagar users after admin approval. Don't include personal information you don't want others to see. Your email and phone in your profile are private and shared only when you choose to display them on a listing.
How We Protect Your Information
We use industry-standard security including encrypted data storage (via Supabase), secure password hashing, and HTTPS for all data transfer. Passwords are never stored in plain text.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Supabase — our authentication and database provider
- Apple — for app delivery via the App Store
- Law enforcement — only when legally required
Your Rights
You can:
- Edit your information — through Settings in the app
- Delete your account — through Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us
- Request your data — by emailing us
- Report concerns — through the in-app Report button or by emailing us
Children's Privacy
Nagar is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or by email.
